Armodafinil 150 mg: Uses, Benefits, Dosage & Safety Information

Armodafinil 150 mg is a prescription wakefulness-promoting medication used to treat excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and shift work sleep disorder. Armodafinil is the R-enantiomer of modafinil and is also marketed under the brand Nuvigil. It works by modulating dopamine transporters and other neurotransmitters involved in regulating the sleep–wake cycle.

The standard adult dosage is 150 mg once daily, taken in the morning or approximately one hour before a work shift. Clinical studies demonstrate improved alertness and sustained wakefulness without the pronounced cardiovascular stimulation seen with traditional amphetamines.

Common side effects may include headache, nausea, insomnia, and anxiety. Armodafinil should be used under medical supervision, particularly in patients with cardiovascular or psychiatric conditions, to ensure safe and effective treatment outcomes.
